Xiaomi.eu vs CN ROM

Per title, most benefits and changelogs and features refer to Global vs Xiaomi.eu. The ROM is based on CN ROM. If I use phone in English language, what's the benefit of installing custom ROM? I can preinstall most Google services/apps on the Chinese ROM etc. I can debloat it and turn off the ads in settings. What am I missing then.

It's not about any one thing, and not all of our ROMs are based on China ROM - we use Global ROM as base for Global-exclusive devices.
Unfortunately, we're an ever-evolving project and I don't have a full list of features and changes for you. You can try it for yourself.

Trying would be nice, but I don't think I've got the luxury of this. It's either I order phone from China now (can get it unlocked through some extra hassle of paying 60$ as well) or wait for the Global release of Xiaomi 17 in March 2026 that will also cost much more as well and might come with smaller battery.

I've had Xioami.eu in my Mi 11 over the past years and really liked it, but that's a different story at this point. I'm also not really asking for a full list of changelog or whatever, but rather an opinion if it's worth the extra hassle and hops required to go to get it on Xiaomi 17 with CN ROM? Like, are there significant advantages over the stock CN ROM?

I wouldn't be using a Xiaomi phone if it doesn't have our ROM installed on it, take that as my opinion on any stock ROM, whether China or Global.

That really depends on the user's IQ. Some people claim that we change nothing and just "debloat" and add translations. With that level of perception, one wouldn't notice the advantages even if you plaster it over his face.

Is that just related to privacy or...?

I'm like seriously asking because everyone says different things and I'm sure the ROM has changed over the years in different ways. You can't really find a proper documentation or description, so it's really hard to judge.

If you want a clean, stable, Google-friendly experience with fewer background services and more usable features, Xiaomi.eu still gives a noticeable upgrade over CN ROM — even if you use English and debloat manually.

That may be the case, but only with the Stock ROM (which might be the chinese ROM for some people) you'll get your Google wallet and banking apps working.

If using services that refuse to be used your highest concern, then use stock ROM with the bootloader locked.
Every user has their own priorities.
