Download rom, go to TWRP wipe cache and dalvik, install new rom, wipe cache and dalvik restart. No need to root

U can unlock it now but be careful where u buy your phone. If u buy it with original rom all good, but if u buy it with fake rom u will brick your phone when u unlock it.

it doesnt work now, xiaomi forbiden unlock now because there is lot of mi5x bricked because some vendors put false rom on device. i unlocked my phone before and i put xiaomi eu rom but right now its not possible until xiaomi find solution for phones with false roms

So it seems i am one of few lucky bastards that manage tu unlock bootloader and put xiaomi.eu rom on it? I am not programmer but is it possible when you unlock your phone and install TWRP to delete everything from phone (and OS) and then with SD card put new OS? I cant remember what rom was on...
