Guys! Always check the md5 before installing

dont forget to wipe all data before installing this update.

Note: its applicable to all M1 variations.

GApps: Install Google play from here
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/12/13/download-latest-google-play-store-3-10-10/ or search google for APK, install google play and then install the Gtalk from this link
http://www.sendspace.com/file/7dqo92
then install all the other apps (gmail, maps, youtube etc)from Play store after adding the Google acount.

Note2: if you have FC with google play then force stop it and clear all data for google play and restart phone. If its still have problem then uninstall it and copy the play store apk file into system/apk directory of your phone using root explorer and set the apk permission as other files there.

Thanks! I figured it out just after I asked :p

Is there a way to add a Google account in order to use Google Play? My phone only shows me the options to add an Exchange or an email account...

Yes, I tried. I changed the name to "update.zip" and when I try to install the apps using recovery they don't install.

hmm, you're right.

After flashing 4.1, i am unable to flash the Gapps using recovery

right now i'm trying to see if manual installation works for the Gapps. Hopefully there's some better way to do this.

Also note that something seemed to have changed with the Mi-Recovery since flashing 4.1, doens't seem to work either.

I am able to install all the google apps through the "Market" app, but they close once i start it.
Seems like it wont load until i am able to add a google account first.

please check the first post again. i updated it to include a solution for gapps. try that and report it here. Sorry i dont have Mi1 so i cant be sure. But it works on my Mi2.

so i've extracted the files from http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip

copy and pasted ALL 11 of the APKs from gapps-jb-20121011-signed/System/App to the phone's System/App using Root explorer.

reboot phone, i was able to add account and sign in ~! yay, Google Talk and Google Play works now.

would be better if i knew which APK were essential instead of copying everything though. I copied exactly 11 APK's into the APP folder, i know not all of them were required. Any suggestions?

also note: no torch :( no flash for camera either.

it depends on what apps you want !
as i copied only play store to system and the installed the apk which is given in the first post and thats it.
then i installed gmail, youtube and and maps from play store as a normal app. and everything works.

its stock so you will miss many MIUI apps;)
as for flash it should work . play with some camera settings maybe something there?

hmm.. just googled Phonesky.apk = google play store?

so just Google play store and talk should allow everything to work then :)

but then those other apk like setupwizard.apk or NetworkLocation.apk seems important too.

however, there is NO option to turn on/off flash for the camera. The function isn't broken, it's just NOT there.

Installed Mi-Home Launcher from Play Store :) working nicely

Wow nice!

I hope next update (after holiday) we will get JB. But I don't want them to rush in, I prefer more stability and less bugs.

Ok, what I finally did is push the Google APKs manually using ADB. So, my solution was quite simple actually, but I had cut some edges and I know it's difficult to many people but it worked for me.

At the moment, the AOSP ROM works pretty well actually. I was able even to run the 4.2 camera and it works fine (except for the Sphere module, for which I should push some 4.2 libraries manually and even I when I do, I won't keep many hopes, since the Mi-1 doesn't have gyro).

The ROM has some hiccups here and there, specially with the GPS module (but I believe I isolated some problems using CATlog, I'd be glad to help if you tell me how and where!) but runs (=flies) incredible well, considering the early state. The only really annoying bug is that, sometimes, the LCD denies to turn back on again after locking the screen (pop off the battery seems to be the only current solution). But anyway, I did not record any log for this last bug so I have no idea what could be triggering this behavior. I'll do it when I have more time.

Again, great work!

Does your flash work?

Does your flash work?

The camera flash? Was a thing I didn't try (I only took in-daylight pics today), but since you ask I've just tried again: on photo-mode the flash doesn't work, on camcorder mode the torch does work.

Weird stuff: the 4.2 stock camera can handle the flash but the camera app itself is very laggy.

Solved i think the zip on the mirror is damaged it gives me a different md5
i downloaded the zip from the first link and now i'm running jelly bean ;)

i have a M1, not m1s

When i try to flash any zip file after flashing 4.1 beta, it would fail. Maybe something wrong with it's Recovery.

it just jump from 0 to 98% and say that my update.zip is corrupt.

i have to use the MiFlash utility to flash back to ICS rom.

4.1 beta isn't really usable. lots of random bug and crashes

Guys! Always check the md5 before installing I am checking the mirror file if its corrupt.

hey checked the mirror file and the MD5 is ok may be it was just a bad download.
