ROMs are tested for whole week on devices which we use.. If there would be any serious issue we don't release them of course.. Many individual issues are caused by mods which users install by own..
Regarding face unlock, it's now related to region.. PL is hardcoded in our roms but if went from global ROM without formating /cust partition, region is not applied correctly.. So check via Terminal Emulator command "getprop ro.miui.region" what you have actually set...

Agree. I'm not facing any issue with face unlock.

Updater stop working since 2 or 3 updates - it shows You are already up to date! even when there is newer version (currently I'm on 8.4.4 which I updated manually). The only way is do it manually.
Any idea if it an issue, feature or should I set something, maybe some permissions?

Not sure what has gone wrong, I have the situation, device does not boot, keeps going back to TWRP.
I have used the same method as you describe, TWRP 3.2.1.0 by Raupe, with only Cache & Dalvik wipe, but then bootloop.

First time I have ever had this in 2 1/2 years of using these ROM's.
