disabling lockscreen with pattern lock screen left only?

I don't know if it was just a bug, but when i was using 1.5.13, i was able to use the pattern/pin password lock only. I didn't have to slide down to unlock and then put in the pattern/pin.

How do i get it to do that again with the latest version. Nolock app does not work because it removes the pattern/pin. Is it an option somewhere??

Anyone, please? This is a huge problem. I can't stand having to go through two screens just to freaking unlock the device.
