New Encrypting The Storage On Mi5

I can't seem to encrypt my storage on my Mi5 with OS 6.5.30 beta. It is a prerequisite to configure my hosted exchange account.

Whenever I start the proces, a green outlined android mascot appears for a few seconds, after which my phone swiftly reboots, without finalizing the encryption proces.

Is this because the weekly build comes "rooted"? I'm drawing a blank here...
