Fix xiaomi design flaw statusbar icons not persistent

In MIUI the statusbar notification icons on Mi 9 are not persistent, it acts like a giant pocophone or mi 8 notch which is very annoying because we actually have the screen estate to show them. Would it be possible for xiaomi.eu to fix this and make it act like it doesn't have notch?

I would like to see that too. Possible?
The notification bar on Mi9 is bigger/higher than usual, it needs more space and looks weird.
Also the notification icons disappear and you can see the notification only by swiping the bar down.

This do I mean with big notification bar. It could be narrower as on other devices.

Supposedly this issue is fixed in new global dev build. Not sure about china dev / xiaomi.eu

Where can I find the global developer build? The latest I see is 9.3.7.
