New Google Android Messages App Not Show Old Sms/mms

Hello, I have installed Google android messages to replace the default MIUI SMS app, I have set it as default and gave it all the permissions on security and app settings, however app doesn't show any of my previous SMS & MMS that I received on MIUI's app... On all the other Android's I used, installing a new app would automatically show all the previous SMS I had on the phone, not sure why this one isn't...

Any help on how can I "import" the previous messages to the android messages app?

Have you tried starting up the Mi message app after you installed the new one? That might kickstart it.

I think I had a similar problem when I installed Truecaller, but I can't remember exactly what happened.

Otherwise, try backing up your sms with the Sms Backup and Restore app, and then restore.
