Invalid Google app switching to Chrome HELP

Ever since I updated Google and when I open it it switches to Chrome. SO I JUST CANT USE GOOGLE. When I ask Google Assistant to search something it shows the results on Google but it switches me to Chrome so I cant get the results because Google Asisatant doesnt work on Chrome. HELP. And now my Asistant is not working when my phone is off
