Reporting back 
some improvement on pinpointing my location but while driving seen some imperfections like going off road for some distances. I'm driving the same car so no weird windshield coating is in the way. Using 2 apps and the radar detector one is working in the background (just announcing speed traps) and when I switch back and forth I notice it needs to pick up my current location. Perhaps this is something completely different but again this was ok before with same apps.
