HELP ! Mi3 has no uploader app ?

Hi , I have bought my wife a new mi3 fir her birthday but before I give it to her I wanted to have it all up to date .
Problem is that when I go to update miui it keeps crashing ?
Also their is no uploader app on the phone ?
I have done antutu benchmark and it scored 38000 , checked on xiaomi site and its genuine phone .
Im not well up on flashing roms etc and just wish the uploader was there so it could be a a simple process .
What is the easiest way to get the phone to update miui and the uploader back on the phone ?
Any help is greatly appreciated

power off the phone, and power it on while holding the volume up button.
please post a picture of your recovery.

This forum is telling me the site cannot upload the picture to server ? But my recovery says

Mi recovery 2.0.1

Then I have a option of
Reboot
Wipe and reset
Install update zip to system one
Power off ..

I hope you can help ..

Download latest version (for mi3w is "cancro"), rename it to" update.zip" and put it in the root of the sd (file explorer - phone). Then reboot into recovery and select" install update zip to system one"
