Hi everyone, I really need help.

I recently bought a second-hand POCO F5 Pro. It was working fine and had a Global MIUI ROM installed. I didn’t have the box or proof of purchase.

I tried to update the phone and, following some tutorials, I locked the bootloader, thinking it would allow an official update.

Then everything went wrong:

  • The phone booted into fastboot and got stuck.
  • I tried flashing the global ROM using Mi Flash and Mi Assistant, but it always failed, froze at 99%, or asked to unlock the bootloader.
  • Attempting to unlock with my Xiaomi account gave me an error saying the account region doesn’t match the device, so I couldn’t proceed.
  • Now the device is permanently in fastboot, I can’t access recovery, and nothing flashes.
  • Checking the IMEI and model shows it’s a Chinese K60 model, not the Global version, even though it previously had a global ROM.

I don’t have the invoice, box, or original info. I can’t unlock the bootloader or update the ROM. I’ve lost money, time, and patience.

If anyone has faced something similar, especially Chinese POCO phones that got locked after bootloader changes, I’d appreciate any guidance, legal trick, or solution to:

  1. Recover the phone without further damage.
  2. Flash the original Chinese ROM to exit fastboot.
  3. Any safe alternative to make the device usable again.

Thank you in advance, any help is welcome.

You can't do nothing. Nobody in Europe has China EDL account, with global EDL account you can't recover. Firehose hacked file for this model don't exist too for now . You could throw it to trashcan

Your POCO F5 Pro is actually a Chinese K60 model and locking the bootloader has caused it to get stuck in fastboot. The safest way to recover it is to flash the official Chinese Fastboot ROM using Mi Flash with the “clean all” option. You cannot unlock the bootloader or use global tools without the original account or proof of purchase, so avoid third-party hacks as they are risky and could permanently brick the phone.

I try it but doesn't work unfortunately, I ended up selling it for $80, i will never buy a Xiaomi again.

The problem is not with Xiaomi but with you and the seller. ;)
you buy and you don't know what. And the seller sold you Poco F5 Pro and in fact it was Redmi K60.
Buy the original Global version and you won't have similar problems.

Yes, it was my fault, but if I had bought it when Xiaomi didn't have such strict policies, I could have fixed it. It was my fault, but more so the fault of the guy who scammed me selling me a chinese version.
