Hi,
bought a "Redmi Note 7" a while ago , direct from Xiaomi Store in Shanghai. Got it unlocked after 7 days.
It took a few attemps to get TWRP 3.3.0 on the phone working. Sofar so good.
Flashed the latest xiaomi.eu Rom and started the phone. Simcard inside and wireless working. It asked a few questions i.e. language and than it says on the screen "Checking for updates..... This may take a few minutes" and that was it. The animation rotates for hours and nothing else happens.
I tried with wifi only and also with mobile data only. Nothing.......
Anybody with a clue on what is going on here

Simple solution : it seemed that the phone wanted to "see" my german simcard. ( Mi account based on german phonenumber ) Once I switched data communication from chinese card to german card it was working. Switch only for a short time, due to $$$ roaming
Still it does not make real sense to me. This is the first phone for me with that problem.
