How To Install A Custom ROM on Xiaomi Mi 8 - Xiaomi.eu MIUI 10 Beta

So, Here is my quick guide on how to install a custom ROM on the Xiaomi Mi 8, although the basic steps will work on all Xiaomi phones. I'm going to be going through step by step on how to UNLOCK your BOOTLOADER, Install TWRP and finally install the Custom ROM of your choosing.

Disclaimer:
- It will void your warranty. If you wish to install any type of custom ROM on your smartphone and if anything goes wrong, then the manufacturer is not responsible for it.
- You may brick your phone or your phone may not power on thereafter.
- The Xiaomi Mi 8 phone may become more sluggish and laggy if you install non-optimized custom ROM on the devices.

STEP 2: SETTING UP ADB & INSTALLING TWRP

Hi and thank you for this clear tutorial. But, here's my problem. I managed to install TWRP (I'm on linux mint 18.3), but every time i try to boot on TWRP, the phone boots on the MI recovery. I was able to boot via fastboot (fastboot boot recovery.img), but in the menu, the settings changes (Chinese to English) must always be repeat, and i can't access to the image I want to flash. can you help me ? thank you

I have the same issue. All data are encrypted and can't use my downloaded zip file to install xiaomi.eu ROM.

Did you solve your problem?
 
I was able to send the zip file to the phone using the adb command to push. adb push ROM.zip /ROM.zip and it will be at the root your internal storage. I think if you format data and then reboot you will be able to see the mi8 drive in you pc without encryption. But becareful because you cannot go back after format data

Hi goncalom, i was thinking, maybe i'm not root on my phone ! i'll look that way !
Where are you staying ? Are you able to activate the face unlock ? For me not possible, unless i change the region to Singapour for example ! I hope that will change in Miui 10 ! I'm in France btw !

sinon tu es satifait de ton MI8 ?
 
il viens d'etre envoyé aujourd'hui :D

je me prépare pour le changement de rom.

Donc le mieux c'est de prendre la version 9.5 stable, qui n'a (a priori) aucun bugs... j'attendrais pour faire la mise a jour de la 10.

Donc je prend quelle version LOL ce site c'est le bazard...

ca serait la 9.6 ... MAIS nje ne vois le MI8 nul part.

j'ai acheté mon téléphone chez l'oncle Ali ! C'est une version chinoise, déverrouillée et il m'a mis une version global dessus ! je l'ai reçu avec la Miui 9.5, j'ai fait une MAJ OTA vers la dernière ROM stable MIUI 9.5.13.OEAMIFA, que tu trouves ici : https://yadi.sk/d/uvCTaEl-3ZKhDz ou donc via OTA.

Mon tél. est donc déverrouillé, mais je n'arrive pas à installer TWRP de manière stable et du coup pas de de ROM Miui 10 beta pour moi pour l'instant !
Du coup, chez moi, je n'arrive pas à faire marcher la reconnaissance faciale, l'option n’apparaît pas dans les paramètres. Si je change la région du téléphone de France à Singapour par exemple, l'option n’apparaît dans les paramètres, mais ne fonctionne pas, enfin je n'arrive pas à la faire fonctionner !
J'ai également un soucis avec des écouteurs Bluetooth qui ne sont pas reconnu par lé téléphone. j'espère trouver rapidement une issue !
 
En fait, je suis sous linux et je pense qu'il y a un truc que je ne fais pas comme il faut ! Bien que j'ai trouvé des personnes qui avaient le même problmème que moi, et d'où la solution : fastboot boot recovery.img dans le terminal ! mais comme dit, aucun paramètre n'est pris en compte et je ne vois pas le fichier .zip à installer n'ayant pas accès à la carte SD !
