Can some one tell me how to upgrade my Xiaomi MI2S with MIUI v5 from 4.12.5 to MIUI v6 on a Linux PC??
The device has still dual boot.

Are there bugs on the latest MIUI V6 ??

Please advice...

Well flashing v6 on Linux is easy, maybe easier than Windows because you don't need MiFlash program. Just read our weekly miui posts and download fastboot package from first post. Then on Linux make sure you have working fastboot (if you have ubuntu 14.04 then fastboot is already in repositories as a package from Android tools). If command: "fastboot devices" gives you results when phone connected to USB in fastboot mode then it's ready for miflash.

Unpack tgz package and just run:
sudo ./flash_all.sh or other script variant.

Why does he have to flash from pc? He can install cwm from recovery and flash smiui (it's better than miui special edition)

Depends. Not everyone want to install custom recoveries and "custom" roms.

Now I remember smiui is firmed, so you can flash it with default recovery

And Smiui isn't a very custom rom. It optimize somethings and add some apps, that if you want it doesn't install :)

I have the same issue as the OP. Just to check what I have to do:
1) Install fastboot (on Opensuse: # zypper install android-tools )
2) Download the fastboot package from the first post.
3) Unpack the tarball
4) sudo ./flash_all.sh from the unpacked folder
5) wait for it to install on the phone and auto-reboot

Does this REALLY mean that I don't have to first download and install acid's special version:
"aries_beta_images_4.9.19_4.4_cn_924f0ac59b.tgz"

I've read that some people had wifi issues after skipping this step, and wouldn't like to be the next to post a me-too on that issue ;-)
