New Messaging Stock Missing Off Text And My Phone Wont Run Alternative Sms App As Default

Hi there. I am new to all this but hope someone can help. I have just bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 which is running MIUI 77.0.11.0 Stable. The stock messaging app is missing off part of the letters on the first line of my messages. Also it doesn't give me the information for read/delivery receipts. I would like to install a new SMS app. I have tried several (Go SMS Pr, Textra, etc) , and none of them work as default, despite choosing default in the settings and Autostart etc. Where am I going wrong? Is it possible at all the change to a new messaging app as the stock one is faulty. Please help.

You can try to use the xiaomi.eu rom and check if the problem persist. I don't know, i never read anything related to your issue...

Switch the sim card from slot 2 to slot 1
