Mi 13 Ultra OTA Issue - Please Help

I have unlocked bootloader and succesfully installed the xiaomi.eu rom on my chinese Mi 13 ultra. Everything is working and its great. However the device tells me there is an update (my rom version is .19 and i see in the downloads there is a .20 now available). When i click to install, the device reboots but seems to reboot to the Mi Recovery with reboot, wipe, connect mi account options.
It does not update.
Is this because somehow TWRP is not installed? If so how do i install it so the updates will work?

If you want OTA update you need to install TWRP.
