Hi all!

I am a newbie in this mobile open/rom thing. :)
I have a MI8 SE device, with china rom, MIUI 12.

I would like to change this to EU rom. I have managed to open it, but I stuck with the twrp step.
It seems everything works fine, but it doesn't boot after twrp installed, remains blank.
I used these sources:
adb: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
twrp: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/sirius/

commands:
C:\adb>fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
target reported max download size of 805306368 bytes
sending 'recovery' (11570 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.257s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.068s]
finished. total time: 0.326s

C:\adb>fastboot boot twrp.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.250s]
booting...
OKAY [ 0.127s]
finished. total time: 0.379s

(usb debugging, developer mode activated)

Please don't answer that it is a known issue. I am a newbie, but tried to search for solutions in this forum, but didn't find any. I would appricate a detailed help.
:)

I suspect the miui version 12 is the problem. Can it be?

Thank you in advance.

Did you try to reboot just after flash with the button combo?

I tried Up+power and the old miui booted.
That's to confirm that install process is not successful.
Question:
If I well understand, you are on stock rom? Do you have unlocked the bootloader?
Note: answer to my msg I can't see your answer not doing this.

Yes. it is the original rom (with updates). Yes, the unlock process seems ok. It says unlocked under the developer menu, and there is a little open lock sign during the boot sequence.

fine! Well done.
Try an older TWRP and boot via button combo because when you do it like you have done you are booting TWRP from your computer and not the one that is supposed to be in the phone.
You can try as many twrp you want just via the boot option instruction.
This the best way to check which one is good for your phone.

This phone had many trouble when moving from Android 9 to 10 but not with MIUI 11.
About 12? I guess no issue because nobody claim for this.

Thanks. The twrp booted this way. But after the swipe, my computer doesn't see the phone. So I cant copy the new rom on it. And the twrp doesnt boot any more. Can please help me one more time? :)

Install TWRP again "fastboot flash recovery....".
boot twrp with button combo.
format data
REBOOT TWRP.
place rom zip in the phone. '(NOW you see it!)
install rom.
enjoy

Thank you help. I tried it, but now I can't even boot after the flash recovery. up+power boots the fastboot. Booting from fastboot command line says:
FAILED (remote: Failed to load/authenticate boot image: Load Error)

I am afraid, that I have a brick now...

No don't worry, this is learning....
This phone is almost indestructible. i got one for 1 year from the day it was available .
The fastboot issue is because the recovery partition is messed.
You reset the phone with a fastboot rom via Miflash tool and return to install again your TWRP.
I know it is boring but once done (when you succeed flashing EU rom) you fly happy and don't get this trouble in updating the rom.
