[Mi 8] [Weekly Review] MIUI 12 Xiaomi.EU Beta 20.5.7

Hi MIUIers,

Welcome back to my thorough review of this week Xiaomi.EU beta ROM! Please report and confirmed if you encountered same issues too. Now let's get started!

WHAT'S NEW
1. Add options to switch control center side.
Swap both control center and notification shade position.

2. Change location of Mars Super Wallpapers.
User can change to three locations of Mars with the new update. Also fix some translations issue.

3. Expand top notification and swipe up from corner to activate Google Assistant options are restored.

NEW BUGS
- [Exist since 20.4.30] Unlocking apps via floating window aren't possible.
Unable to unlock apps when expanding the floating window app to full screen view.
To improve UX, it is recommendable if users are able to unlock apps without needing to expand it to full screen view.


BUGS FIXED
- Fix issue of volume, brightness and silence countdown control sensitivity is too low.


REMAINING BUGS
1. Notifications buttons padding incorrectly displayed for certain third-party apps Can be clearly seen at floating notification and notification shade.

2. Picture in Picture (PiP) broke.
Youtube and other apps that support PiP can't be activated properly in small PiP window.

3. Frequent black screen on video panel when minimizing app to floating window.
Steps to reproduce: Play Youtube video, swipe up to float the app, and black screen will emerge.

4. Dynamic font-weight feature doesn't work in Second Space (Make the entire UI appears thin).


Welcome back!
It is very recommended to update through this build as the issue with sliders are fixed now. As for the performance, I will continue to observe it for a while.
As always, kudos to Xiaomi and Xiaomi.EU developers for their endless efforts maintaining the ROM!

Possible will come out after all device got the update. For now it seems only several models get the update.

Yeah, as much as I love MIUI 12, 20.3.26 still a lot better in terms of performance imo.

The whatsapp contacts are still temporarily displayed with only the number ... then the names return without understanding why. Have you solved before a ROM correction with update?

Guys, my question is a little bit offtopic but...

What do you think, is it possible to go from Miui 11 beta 20.3.26 to the Miui 12 stable when it's released without wiping? Anyone tried it from previous releases?

I know it's not possible to go back from beta Miui 11 to stable Miui 11 without wiping, but what about when the stable is completely newer release compared to the beta currently using?

I'm a little bit tired of betas for the past 2 years and I want to move to stable, but I don't want to do all the setting from the beginning. So, dirty flashing is my option to move to stable.

I solved it by backup WhatsApp first, clear the data and open the app back. Once the permission request appear, choose only Once!

I used to expand notifications with one finger buy now i have to use two fingers. What exactly the option "Expand top notification" do? I have the same result when is on or off.

PiP (Pinture in Picture) works perfect for me, tested in YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Video, i do clean install

Hi, I don´t know, where to ask. I have Mi 8 and honor magic watch 2, so I installed huawei health app, but I can´t setup location permissions for it another than "allow only while using app". If I try "allow all the time" it jump immediatelly to previous permission state. Thanks for suggestions.

Hi ! Please all Mi 8 Dipper users on Miui 12 what autonomy do you have ? i have not a good autonomy and do charge it in the afternoon.
But I have dirty flash it over Miui 11 and think make a clean install but I'd never clean flash it since Miui 9 and what the best Format data or wipe data for remove all files stored for months. But before to know if Miui 12 consume more or if it great.
