I updated today, and now I can’t unlock my phone anymore. I tried going back to last version, and I can unlock it normally with my password again. Also, twrp allows me to decrypt my data with my normal password on the new version, so it’s definitely a rom issue. The password currently only has lower case letters, if this helps. Next I try going back to last version, changing from password to pattern, and then updating again. Very weird issue. Maybe there is something wrong with the in built password keyboard for the MIUI lockscreen? Sim pin works like a charm, it only does not get my password, which works on previous version.

I recently couldn't unlock a Mi Pad 4 Plus. Not after an update. I restarted it by long-pressing the power button. That solved the problem.

Try this:
1. Update the ROM normally.
2. Reboot to TWRP -> File Manager
3. Browse to: /data/system
4. Delete file "locksettings.db"
5. Reboot to system.
You will need to set the lock screen password/pattern again.
