u need to install the qualcomm drivers follow this site http://www.androidbrick.com/xiaomi-mi5-how-to-flash-global-multilanguage-rom-unbrick-guide/

u need to get the digital signature disabled for this to work .. after this method 3 will work

please refer these also, be sure u follow the process well and after u disable digital signature in windows u need to reboot and install the qualcomm drivers for ur phone to be detected in edl or mi pc suite china version

So, if it does not work with the bootloader unlock there is nothing I can do and basically throw it away?

U can install any rom with edl method, u do not need the BL to be unlocked. U need images rom and miflash beta .. pm me if u do not get it

Ok, so I basiclly tried everything. I find the phone as Qualcomm blablabla in Device Manager.

I can flash the phone using MiFlashBeta.

The phone is not recognized by MiSuitChina or English. Yes I am booted in the signature driver thing mode on my computer

I cannot discover the phone in ADB session.

So I can flash it, but it seems to be stuck in EDL mode for some reason. (Phone totally black, nothing work.)

Im about to give up on Xiaomi

When you followed the guide to access edl through the test points, are you sure you did everything right?

Yes, I have done all accordinly to the guide. Dont think the PC would have discovered it if not?

Edit; Maybe just send it back to reseller. Only trouble is that it is in China, and I am in Norway. So i takes a just much time..
