Hi all,

I hope you can help.

I don't know anything about Android phones so please be patient with me. (I'm not a developer and just use the phone for calling overseas, surfing the net)

I left my 14 yr old son with a spare phone of mine (Redmi) during last week whilst I was traveling. Came back last night and the phone says:

"root permission is disabled in miui stable version. please install miui beta version to activate root permissions site:xiaomi.eu"

I'm not sure if this means it's a hardware or software issue but can I fix it at home or do I have to take it to a specialist?
- hope someone can guide me here.

Thanks in advance!

Is is not so comlicated. Your son most probably installed an application which requires root permissions which you do not have on your phone (like system admisnistrator rights on windows) and you become therefore the warning. I suppose except for the warning you can use your phone normally. Finding and uninstalling this application may solve your problem. Other workaround: install latest stable multilanguage rom (24.0.0) and turn root privileges on under settings-security-permissions

Start the app updater (folder System) then tap the first button from the left, from menu that appears select "Select update package" and choose the downloaded file.
