I didn't try old ones but on the latest stable and also latest developer firmwares sound quality is lame. I even installed Flyme to test if it's firmware bug or not. And. Surprise! Sound on Flyme is much, much better without any enhancement software.
So I created a bug thread on the official forum and I ask you for help to confirm it as a bug.
