A brand new redmi 3S 2/16 bootloader unlocked and i have the following problem:
It was delivered wizh MIUI V7 china developer and i could unlock bootloader without problems
Update to MIUI V8 was offered, the download took ages and after installing the update and rebbot it was stipp on MIUI V7.
So i decided to flash TWRP with commands: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
boot into recovery fastboot boot twrp.img
The phone reboots into working operation, it does not boot into recovery.
I tried several times but no success. Any ideas whats wrong?
I was able to flash MIUI V8 stable with Miflash, but cannot flash recovery.

I was having the same problem as you!
The solution is, after you flash twrp recovery, disconnect the usb cable, and next press power + vol + vol -, till the phone restarts, when you see mi logo release power and vol - keys, and the you should see the twrp recovery.

Unfortunately this does not work for me,
But i found a work around:
I boot temporarely CyanogenMod Recovery for Redmi 3S (land) fastboot boot recovery.img
The phone boots instantly into CWM recovery
In CWM recovery i select reboot recovery and "hurray" i am suddenly in the previously installed TWRP.
I can make backups, flash latest eu. ROM and the phone boots into it.
If i select in Updater APP " restart into recover" the Phone just restarts again, no Recovery.
Very strange behaviour.
