redmi note 8 call/videocall speaker stops - requires constant reboots to restore sound

Hi,
I really like this phone - fantastic value but they have a major issue -
the audio will stop suddenly during a video call on any app or a standard phone call.
there is no way to restore this except a reboot.
I have 2 of these, for my mother and mother in law during this difficult time. To expect them to reboot the phones a few times a day is not suitable, also to have the sound suddenly stop during calls is a major issue.

This was fixed in 2019 in india but how do both of my new EU phones have this fault? they are fully updated with all apps fully updated to.

guess this isnt a widespread issue then?!
except the 2 phones i bought have the same fault. nothing i do has stopped this fault.
the sound will stop from the earpiece and the loud speaker - its not a hardware - its a software fault.
