New Sgs2 alarm not working when switched off

Alarm not working when set and then phone turned off. Is that normal? Shouldnt it ring anyway?

No phone turns on if its off and an alarm is set....

I'm pretty sure in the past with my old n95 the wake up alarm would work anyway even if phone was off, and would ask me if i wanted to turn the phone on after i silence the alarm.

Too bad android doesnt support that. Oh well!
