As of today, I noticed that the left half of the top bar of phone - where the time and other icons are usually displayed - has become totally scintillating (microscopic dots of various colors), and so the info which is usually there disappears. At times, it reappears but fades out rapidly. The rest of the screen - the right half of the top bar (showing the networks intensity, bluetooth, battery level) and the rest of the screen display perfectly.
When I turn off the screen, this region turns itself off too. Upon turning the screen on, it first starts black, then starts showing the hour and icons on a gradually scintillating background, until they become unreadable.
I restarted the phone - to no avail.
Any ideas about the cause and how to fix it?
