Dirty update from 6.5.26, directly flash 3 zips from TWRP (in order):
- 7.5.20 with whetstone folder removed
- SuperSU 2.76
- gapps x86_64 5.1 pico
Flash went fine. Wipe cache/dalvik, reboot, 5 minutes and still stuck on mi.com logo with 3 flashing dots on bottom above "powered by android". What's the normal waiting time after updating to this ROM at least until the 3 flashing dots turn into progress bar?
EDIT 1:
30 minutes and still stuck. Looks like this is a path that no one else should follow. I'll retry without installing gapps, thank God I have TWRP backup.
EDIT 2:
Damn it. Can't even get into recovery, only dnx fastboot. The TWRP backup is still in the internal storage
EDIT 3:
Long long way to get the device back to work:
- Flash fastboot ROM 7.2.1.0 except data partition
- Using updater, install dev ROM 6.5.26
- Reboot to fastboot
- Flash TWRP, reboot, keep holding Power + Vol Up
- Back in TWRP, restore backup
Retried without gapps, only ROM + SuperSU, still stuck in previous step. Oh, well. I guess I'll stay with 6.5.26 for a while...
EDIT 4:
Out of curiosity, I tried ROM + gapps, it works. So SuperSU 2.76 seems to be the culprit. I'll retry once again with SuperSU 2.46, which is the one I used for rooting 6.5.26.
EDIT 5:
Yep, SuperSu 2.46 works. I now have 7.5.2.0 with latest gapps and root.
