That's to decide when both devices are released, but if you live outside China you need the snapdragon version.
The Tegra version only supports TD bands (so no 3G networks)

I would prefer the Snapdragon S800 power consumption wise.

Tegra 4 has been known for being a beast in this department explaining why there are close to 0 devices until now packing such a SoC. Cortex A15 is indeed powerful but is power hungry and seems to be overheating a bit. This is also why ARM came up with big.LITTLE build idead.

That being said, the S800 is a top chip as well, but performance wise, it is on par with the Tegra 4 and seems even to surpass it in the graphic field while keeping power consumpter on the same levels as the Snapdragon S600.

Anyway, I'm just glad we're getting the S800 based Mi3, we just have to wait (a lot ?).

Well, as I visited China recently, I didn't want to wait. AFAIK, LTE will not be available for the MI3 anyways, and in my experience, 3G in my region was only rarely a real benefit -- my old phone had to switch back to EDGE very often. Given the fact, that published benchmarks comparing S800/Tegra4 so far tend to see the Tegra4 a little ahead, this COULD be a fair price to pay, depending on the region you're living in and the way you use your phone. Of course, benchmarks comparing both versions of MI3 will be interesting
