this is not my own work. I am just mirroring Ivan's ROM published into other chinese forum channels.

this is bleeding edge android lollipop 5.1 for Xiaomi Mi2(s) codename aries.
don't use this build on other phones.
all credit goes to Ivan for this incredible work.

buglist:
- screen stucks blank for a while at first start [after flashing ROM], but no issue at all on further reboots/boot ups
- bluetooth stack is rather fragile
- you tell me! [scroll down the comments of this thread]

this ROM is already rooted by default.

to install a custom recovery, follow this procedure:

- power off your phone and power it on in fastboot mode, pressing power + vol down for 2 seconds
- connect your phone to your PC [Windows]
- make sure that proper drivers are installed
- download this .zip archive
- extract it on your C: drive - so you have the directory C:\adb
- move into C:\adb the .img file of the recovery you want to flash
- shift+right click on an empty space into adb folder
- select "open command window here" from the context menu
- in CMD, type fastboot devices
- if the output shows an alphanumeric string, then the phone is correctly recognized, otherwise make sure your PC has your phone drivers correctly installed
- flash your recovery with this command:

fastboot flash recovery CWM_recovery_6.0.5.1_R11_furniel.img
or
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-aries-20150221.img

- you're done. reboot your device and enjoy your new recovery.

Just to say that I have mic dialing problems with this rom and I am not alone:

Edit: Now the mic is working normal with this metod. After flashing via fastboot (finished installation of this rom 4.1), install new recovery cwm or twrp and then wipe data, cache, dalvik and format system, then install Ivan`s lollipop 5.1, VOILA mic. is good also sound in conversation...
Also I can say I have no restarts in 5.1.

I have mic problem too, but i even don't hear other side. I'm from Czech Republic, T-Mobile network.

Edit: solved, when even MIUI V6 didn't worked i have reflashed whole my phone using fastboot with files from package aries_images_4.11.7_4.1_cn_929b6ea8d0.tgz. Now it works."

be aware that Xposed Framework doesn't work on android 5.1.

Root is not fully functioning.... i am having error in using ES file explorer with Root.
can anyone confirm it pls ?

Great responsiveness and battery, but Lag in mic when calling. And Random reboots. I'm going back to smiui

Avevo sentito dire che per la versione lollipop non era consigliato usare il TrueDualBoot..
Hi Thanks for the notice (we have to talk in english on the forum ;) ).
Before you answered me i Installed the rom enabling the dualboot with CWM 6.0.5.0. I works good fortunately, I nve had only 2 random reboots. May It could be related to CWM 6.0.5.0 and dualboot activated?

No Mic bug for me

How can I get back to miui 6 after installing android5? Only via Miflash and developer version of miui?

I got this Massage when i try to dail some USSD Codes (*100# and *135#)
Somebody with same Problem?

Yes, I read that TDB is not reccomanded, so that's could be the reason.. Also, I read that is better use cwm 6.0.5.1 to flash the rom.. Don't ask me why, I just want to have a nice ROM that works well, so I'm not going to flash this at the moment :) what do you have in your second partition?

Hi, thanks for your reply, on the second partition I have sMIUI 5.3.27 but i had some little problems and i would try to change rom. Today I had no random reboot... It is smooth with a good battery life, but with very few option.

xposed framework for lollipop 5.1 works flawlessly on my Mi2s.
troubles affects modules installed, which lead to bootloops.
'til now, I have successfully tried xsuite, but with xposed additions module I stuck on a bootloop.

for anyone who's interested, there's a "super-alpha" unofficial version of xposed framework that sould work on android 5.1.
I am going to try it in the next few hours and report back issues.
if you want, you can point to the XDA thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/super-alpha-posted-permission-xposed-t3072979
