I'm pretty sure it's are hw problem because:
- both synaptics and atmel touchscreens are affected
- both original and (cheap) replacement touchscreens are affected.
- I tried the kernel driver from the manufacturer and it still happened

maybe there's something wrong with PCB or sth. similar that causes noise.
It would just be interesting if there's a difference between stock and custom kernels.
Maybe Xiaomi is holding back a workaround.

Well I had it once or twice when I got my screen wet,I just wiped it and it was ok.

So it is hw problem but really easy fixable.

this is a different problem. what u are describing is the normal wet screen issue every device with a capacitive screen has.
But this topic is a bout sth. completely different.
Your screen is totally clean and dry and you're not touching your phone at all and the phone still acts like you'd be touching the screen.

I just tried,Xiaomi would press on it's own while other two phones in my household just wouldnt respond to touch.

Still I think someone should try using hair blower on phone if it has this problem.

you're one of the lucky few then.
Most people have very clean or even new screens and experience this bug every 15 minutes.

I have never had this issue, but with the last sMIUI 5.6.4 i am getting the phantom touches.... Maybe it is related to something in the Kernel...

replaced lcd+touchscreen with new one, the problem still happening, so what kind of hw should be replace

I had Ghost Touch problem on my Xiaomi mi9 in Call of Duty Mobile and PubG.

This is the only solution which fixed my problem:

1. Open settings
2. Activate developer options (My device > Tap 8 times on "MIUI-Version")
3. Settings > Additional Settings
4. Developer options
5. Disable MIUI-Optimizations (at the very bottom).
6. Reboot
