I got a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Qualcomm (mido) and updated it to the latest ROM (MIUI 8.6 - 7.7.20).
After that when I press the home button I don't get back to the home screen and also when I press it long it doesn't work as it should (I set it to show the recent apps).
When I press the home button the phone is vibrating as it is supposed to be and even at the lock screen I still can open the flashlight by pressing it long so it is no hardware problem.
I tried to go back to and older ROM but it didn't help me.

I had that exact same problem in the Redmi 4X. You have to do a clean install, the latest ROM will work fine afterwards (download the re-uploaded one)!

How do I do a "clean install"? Any chance doing it without loosing my apps and all the settings?

To do a clean install you must format all data (not just cache and Dalvik). Perhaps you can try to make a backup of the apps and setting in the MI Account and then restore it, although it's at your own risk!

22 pages of complaints. No one will fix the bugs since the new version is already on the way.

Mi Max 2 with 7.7.20

GPS: Radar app loses gps signal when Display is off (working on Max 1 and Note 4X)

Change the language to English, then open the "Settings", "Region", and change from the default Poland to your real Region. This should solve at least the VoLTE issue, not sure about carousel! Then you can change back the language to whatever you want.. Actually it might even work for your current one, but I couldn't find the "Region" option under PT-PT, for example.

Is there a fix to avoid crash when receiving a message? Everytime I receive a whatsapp message, program crashes.

(Redmi Note 4 x)

I don't have such a problem and I use whatsapp a lot, so I guess you messed up in some configuration (or you need a clean install because the update messed up something)!

Thank, solve for Volte (not for carousel)

I think you are right, I did a dirty install... I roll back to my stable backup and try out MIUI9 with a clean install, dont want to do this now, to annoying :)

If you went from weekly (dev) to stable and did only dirty flash, there is your reason. From dev to stable you need to wipe data also.

Good, I just put the European stable and I have neither coverage nor data in my phone redmi 4 normal, it tells me to activate sim card and it puts me to receive international message. Could this be the reason that I do not have a line on the phone? Thank you. PS: I have made several flashes and still does not work, came from a refined rom.

Have you tried to flash latest fastboot rom and after that xiaomi.eu rom if it works?
Also have you checked your apn settings that they are correct?

After the refrita I put the global Chinese ROM for miflash (here is when the mobile network stopped), then I put rwp and put the global rom eu, and it does not work either. If I look at apn and that's fine.

FYI: after a clean install, whatsapp crashed again. The reason is (a bug?!) a custom message tone in whatsapp, comes back after every restore of whatsapp. I set tone to default system sound and now there is no crash...

Mi5s plus. V7.7.20 is really the best ever. I wish Xiaomi should have released it earlier
