mi box forum closed?

One solution I have is to validate users case by case to make them a Member+ and provide access to the Mi Box sub forum at a later date, thus keeping normal users out and unregistered users from seeing and interacting with the content there.

I will give it some consideration over the weekend as to what will be done.

Giving in to stupid people is offering them the trophy on a silver platter ... while punishing us the Customer/User.

We'll just have to go somewhere else to get updates on a process that was started here, which I think is unfortunate and undeserving of the work you've done.
Also doesnt help reading your comment about it on Reddit, doesnt really support your case for re opening the sub forum if you are calling me "an adult having a p****ng contest" Would you like being publicly slandered? I'm sure you would not mate!

I've worked on Customer Support for many years managed a few people responding to forums and e-mail support and have received many "slanderings" as you say, even threats ... I didn't throw a fit about it. People are stupid and always will be. Even responding to provocation is giving "air time" just ignore it.

So at this point, for me a Customer waiting for a device to work for a lot of months ... yes, it's a p****ng contest that favours nothing and no one ...

@MarkHUK you did a good job and got things rolling for the Customers whatever the other guy says ... The rest is complete nonsense and is beneath you, so don't steep to his level.

So your personal problems allow you to shut down all the forum ?
Dude you're insane. Let us trash talk about how ****** the Mibox became and will probably always be :D
The forum is still open, so no, not all the forum. And less of the 'insane' I am not of any mental incapacity. Is no need to be rude to me.

I haven't dropped to his level, he continues to call me "pathetic" and a "loser" yet i've not attacked him or been verbally abusive to him at all. Shows what character he is. He even went on the offensive in an anti-asian racism group on reddit and the comments there are DISGUSTING! SEE FOR YOURSELF HERE

And you think this guy is 'Normal'? or 'Sane'? I'd assume not, seems mentally unhinged and in a cult of white hating asians.

One question and I know its someone who posted in the thread here... Who is fran_bc_ aka Frank_ from reddit on this forum?

@MarkHUK I think he's an ass and a self loving, self promoting babbling baboon ... but if we cared about all the baboons that cross us everyday ... I wouldn't step outside. Rise above ...

By closing the MiBox forum you are saying everyone that contributed to the project is the same as he is ... and that's, first, censorship, second, some may be like him but not all of us - and we wan't to continue contributing and getting feedback on the project.

As I said a few posts back I will give consideration to a closed sub forum where each user who has access needs to go through an approval step and an additional T+C agreement concerning post rules, abuse and harassment laws and other such things to mitigate the issue in future.

One of the reasons the sub forum is private is to prevent Xiaomi accessing and copying data, in addition people like the one you've just described. I personally dont care for that guy, I do however take big concern at the lies he is spreading against me by real name and the private messages he has posted to a public forum. There will be a legal consequence from his actions.

EDIT: From the 1st day of people having issues with the Mi Box 3 I did what I could to help when i could of (and I now wish I had) not done a thing as its not my issue to fix, nor do I even own that product. Yet, for months i've suffered abusive and personal attacks from users, admittedly not everyone but a good percentage... and for what? Trying to help, voluntarily and for no gain personally. It becomes tiresome to provide free help when all you get is abuse.

@Toomous if you direct any further abusive comments or demands to me or this forum you will be banned and no chance for you to participate in sensible and non-vulgar discussions.

Thanks.

Abusive comment ? Dude, I told you to re-open the closed forum, because your problem with someone else is not users problem. I will survive without this forum (especially if you moderate it), Reddit has a lot of space to tell how much you and xiaomi suck ass.

You "told me"? Like you have some right to make a demand? Yes, abusive commenting in the thread, and yes, equally Reddit can see you've said nothing constructive or offered anything useful to the conversation, just rude and negative comments! If you dont want to be on the forum that's up to you but i am not bowing to your demand to re-open a sub forum because you are disgruntled with Xiaomi. How about you target your abusive comments directly to the Mi Box team and Google engineers? see where that gets you.

Maybe try widening your vocabulary to include less profanities and more useful words.

That's your opinion, however not exactly true. I never HAD to do anything to help with your defective product in the first place, I CHOSE to help people without asking for anything off anyone. Not sure how that's not caring?

Acting like a child who can't have his toys though, that's all I am seeing from some of the comments in this thread. Sorry you dont feel like its all going in your favour but that is no reason to be rude / snarky.

Remind you once again, I offered to help on a product I didn't even own and you think im not responsive... think what you want.

It's hard to manage a subforum of a product poorly treated by xiaomi. People's cry is valid. You could always moderate offensive comments and move on.
If the Mi box incharge team want you to kiss their ass, say No. Your class action suit was our hope. Well, all i can do is talk and its the easy part. I am sure you can handle this Mod

OK, you all want to know what's going on with WHY the sub forum got closed....

I did moderate the offensive and off topic contents and that's what outraged some people and leads to bad posts on Reddit and other forums about me, this site or Xiaomi (doing what they complained about but abusive to us instead). I had pointed out the community rules and everyone knows the stance on abusive words in posts, even if censored by the system the intent is still there and still readable to anyone with a grain of sense.

Often posts reduced down to cross topic issues in none relevant threads or post content which had content not strictly related to the product / issue e.g. comments about this site, Xiaomi, often in a negative manner.

I just wanted to help a group of people with an issue as I had some contacts still with the Mi TV team, unfortunately that bridge is burned now because of pure misunderstandings, things lost in translation and such plus professional handling of the issue by Xiaomi in general for customers, members of this community, in addition a customer taking private information public which is against my express wishes under GDPR rules anyway! not only that but the allegations of abuse, violence and threats (none of which are true [slanderous]).

I can say in the last 2 months I didn't speak to Dong Chun a great deal, her WeChat went quiet for a long period so I deleted her before the time the new OTA was pushed because there was no advance notices that we had agreed would be published for BETA users to see in advance of the OTA reaching them instead of it being a scurry (Race) to download / ask what the issues may be with the OTA etc so with that said, I believed her communication to be gone from the forum or me to post in advance time or provide updates as she had not kept in good contact from the beginning with me about the main issues. Small issues seemed to get sorted pretty quickly but the bigger issues like frame rate you all mention didn't seem to get any headway!

When she then came back to post on the forums this past Monday I had said "Oh you've resurfaced again" and that was all. Bare in mind I had already deleted her before this time from WeChat (due to possible cut communication from her side for some reason unknown to me).

Prior to that i've only really aired user frustrations as a relay (not as the person making issues) to her on WeChat; went through bugs, some videos of the issues shared by Dong Chun, exchanges of information, some of which about the bad communication between our site and Xiaomi side (not an uncommon issue i've faced in the past with Xiaomi, but I digress). There was also frustrations from the Xiaomi side, they did not like the Android news sites picking up on the disastrous OTA Oreo 1st update, this was also taken the wrong way. I can only guess they didn't like the negative feedback / constructive criticism (my own opinion, not to be considered fact).

I can safely say I did not abuse her, if anything pointed out a constructive criticism of the bad communication and that is all. If that has offended her she is reading it the wrong way. Regarding other users who have an issue with me, take it up in private with me, not on a public forum, you're all supposed to be adults, you also agreed to this sites terms and conditions and privacy policy before posting so there is NO need to be posting offensive content to our platform,

Will the sub forum come back? I'm not really 100% on this yet due to some users continuing to be abusive on the platform here.

Please note: Any reproduction of this post on other platforms is strictly forbidden under copyright law and EU GDPR law.

I guess I am a little pissed at the dbags that don't listen. I don't post much but I read alot. I have issues with my mibox and I hate redit and Facebook so I came here as forums are so much easier to read and follow.

Thanks @MarkHUK I appreciate what you have tried to provide a service you can't help if people read things wrong. I hope it comes back but if not oh well all is not lost. The rest of the forum is active.

CRY ME A RIVER

It's really ridiculous how some of you guys keep attacking each other and especially the forum moderator/owner. And you seriously wonder why the subforum has been temporarily closed? Your behavior here is really embarrassing. Unbelievable

This is the EU forum
Where is freedom?

Open mibox forum back or close xiaomi.eu completely

Make a decision Team

@MarkHUK and everybody else. You now what? Nobody is right or wrong but for sure no one is entitled to be offensive or demanding for, what ever some one say this is Europe, and in deed it is so behave like Europeans, if somethings got lost or confused in translation lest not over react, and we all know the people we deal with, what makes us great is what we choose to do and the way we act, someone even say that God is not punitive but understanding and forgiving, i am not a religious person and i believe on a eye for an eye, but for that i always consider the impact on what i am about to do, and for sure i try not to implicate who got nothing to it, i will not tell you or ask or beg, to re-open the forum, like i say eye for an eye, but is this the kind of situation for it? Only you can answer that but do it for your self, in the end of the day people care only by their self no one here cares really about what you fell, that is the unfortunate truth... what ever you do you are the one that will really judge it. Take care and THANK YOU.

My contribution on this is:
- From day one of the update, I tried contacting Xiaomi and getting them to respond to ruining a perfectly good product, first on their support sites, their contact methods shown on their sites, everywhere around the local sites (China, Taiwan, India, US) on twitter, facebook, nothing happened, not one word was responded;
- I posted on their support forum in India, people were saying exactly the same, but no response once again;
- Got in contact with Google and Dolby Studios, so they could revoke their certifications from the product, since it was no longer a working product;
- Then I came here, and @MarkHUK took an interest on the posts that were starting to come here, since nowhere else people had any kind of support;
- A bugs list was created and he managed to get Xiaomi finally to get some interest on this;
- Things have been painfuly slow from Xiaomi's side but there has been progress;
- Now everything looks stalled once again.

Having this in mind ... Take your conclusions on who should get some of the rage on what has happened in this situation? This forum or the supplier of the product that has almost done nothing?

I've made up my mind ... Nvidia Shield it is ... And no other product from Xiaomi ever

out come from all this
I've made up my mind ... Nvidia Shield it is ... And no other product from Xiaomi ever

Unfortunately, that is the way to go, if xioami only care about money they are about to face an undesired outcome from all this, the word is being spread i am in a place where at least 100 users are not pleased at all, and this is not over the internet, like you i know of many people resorting to get in contact with the supporting partners of the product, i don't know or care about business but a lie is being advertised from the side of respectable companies, and the brings consequences not in china because we all know how the came is there, but in UE and US i believe companies like Google will not be able to just let it go, unless the issue is really dealt with, now closing down the forum is not going to be very helpful for these situation, honestly i couldn't care less but actions brings consequences and someone has to be punished for all this mess because in the end it is a big mess, and nutter than less we are (active or banned) users, consumers, in the end someone has to stand for us EU an US Have laws to protect the end user from this kind of things, like Australia has too, look what happen to Apple there, if this happens to xioami it's over they can't afford it... Just saying, i couldn't care less but i don't like to see my rights as a consumer and tax payer violated, and i gess i am not alone on this.
