Hi my recently bought mi8SE runs 8.1.0 android and 8.7.5 beta eu ROM, this means bootloadre is open, isn't it? Besides it says unlocked when starting up;

I would like to know if it is running last versions and if it is not, wich one do uou recommend.

I have been watching around for a twrp version and in twrp.me there is not a SE version, I found instead one for MI8, does this one fit to SE?

Thanks in advance

EU rom is july 2018, latest is 9.3.28. 2019/.3//28

You get advantage in upgrading to this newest version.
Our MI8 SE is tricky because twrp must be upgraded on the way and you move from Adroid 8 to 9.
You may follow instruction given below. Thanks @DDoSolitary

This post is really well written and better than my poor english level would allow.
In case of trouble don't hesitate to ask.

Hi, firs of all, thank you for your reply.
Second, I am sorry but dont understand, @DDoSolitary came out with a step buy step guide of what he has done and did not work, so I can not find how to solve the question on jow to upgrade my SE.

Maybe you mean the link in the above thread? That lead to https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/how-to-return-to-stock-rom-xiaomi-mi-8-explorer-edition.49504

Is that what you meant?

Thanks again
Sorry, I was to quick answering.
First part is OK
Follow given instruction at first page. How to install rom
Check what TWRP/ recovery is on your phone.
If it is 1102 version, you can flash EU rom but you have to change TWRP version to 1227 before booting the rom in order to keep it.

2- how can I chaeck twrp version?
3- how can I change to 1227?

Atached is a capture of the boot menu (power+ vol up) can not see any other option to check twrp vers.

Thanks again

what do you read?

Sorry I attached an image while you were asking me, please read above your answer
I see now.
You have official recovery and nothing to do with it.
You must change to TWRP as in my previous msg
Follow official thread instruction and that will work.
No risk to brick this phone, if avoiding big mistake.

Ok,
1-How come is that I have official recovery and eu rom?
2- wich TRWP vers do I have to install with android 8.1.0 ?
And where to get it? In twrp.me there is no SE edition, only mi8

Thank you

Read carefully and also check MI8 SE threads that rely on this subject. (use search in forum, easy!)
I'll be back tomorrow because it is diner time here. bye

Install 1102 twrp version and flash EU rom Stable. For dev rom process is a bit complcated.
So, stable rom should install easy way and make the move to Android 9.0 without hassle.
-Issue? come back here with details.

1-twrp 3.2.3 1102 sucessfully flashed

wich ROM do you recommend the most? and, is 3.2.3 1102 able to flash it?

Once you've understood the difference and chosen between EU STABLE and EU weekly DEV, you can flash any of them with 1102 TWRP.
For the DEV version you have to change twrp version to 1227 just after rom install and before reboot.
Check posts about this. Not big issue if you forget, just lost recovery.
(rom first boot can last 10 mn). Don't claim for bootloop!

Hi tnx for your reply.

Have to say that i. The meantime while waiting for this resonse, i took some tests and realiced that adb is.unable to.see my device, I have tried sooooo many types of installations and usb drivers with no results at all, even though fastboot is able to comunicate with the device; do you think this can affect the flashing procedure?

On the other hand, do you have any recommendation about wich ROM is best?

ADB? you need to switch on USB debug on DEV settings and acknowledge the phone to the computer.
Best ROM? Always stay up to date with EU DEV weekly and forget all Stable.
No need to flash every weekly release. Only when big update in the log or some new feature (sometime also bug correction!)
Voilà.
