Hello guys,

Here is a few problems I am having and I am not sure what to do nor can I find any posts in this regard, please help @ingbrzy

Before I start, I have Google synced up but I have Mi Cloud turned off and Mi Backup turned off as well.

1. Using the stock camera app, I take pictures and in the gallery they appear normal but if I want to share them via for ex. WhatsApp, photos that were taken vertically, appear horizontally.
2. When I remove images while using the gallery app, they do not show in the gallery trash bin and once I come back to the the gallery app, somehow, the images that I removed, all come back.
3. Google Pay not working still even after clearing data as instructed.

Here is a question besides those problems, is it possible to remove Mi Cloud and Gallery app and use a different picture viewer?

Please help and thank you so much in advance, I sincerely appreciate any help.

I don't have a MI 8, but I have disabled the Mi Gallery app in all my 3 phones, and use a different 3rd party gallery app from Playstore.

There is no real problem doing that, but the "live" function in Mi Camera might not work then.

MI Cloud backup of photos can be turned off.

Then oddly enough, I have occasionally a similar problem with photos taken in horizontal position appearing as vertical in some apps.

But this happens when I am using *no-support-for-this-app-on-this-forum*, not the MI camera app.
So I have no idea why this happens.

Thank you @cobben . Yeah, I just disabled the gallery app and it seems that helped with photos coming back out of nowhere.

The other 2 problems are still unresolved:

1. pictures taken in the stock camera app seem to display horizontally in apps like whatsapp

2. still not sure what the issue is with google pay

You can turn photos around 90 degrees in many apps, I don't see that as being a big problem, just strange.

I don't use Gpay, don't feel the need to have yet another way to spend money.

I wouldn't see it as a problem but when I share batches of photos of 50 or more then, yeah, it's a problem especially when the photos look fine in gallery but when you attach photos in WhatsApp, then they appear turned after attaching them.

I don't do more than a few photos at a time.

I have this problem with *no-support-for-this-app-on-this-forum* and the 3rd party Gallery app I use. So maybe not the same bug you have.

I was thinking the bug might be caused by some more advanced settings in the *no-support-for-this-app-on-this-forum* app but I haven't gotten around to testing that yet.

"Photos" are not just simple pictures these days, there is a lot of meta information included, like location, time stamp etc., and probably some format specs.
If some of that is recorded incorrectly by the camera app, or incorrectly interpreted by say Whatsapp, that might cause this.

The only thing I can think of to do is try turning on or off all those various settings in the camera app, and see what happens.

Which program do you use as the gallery application?

"Simple gallery"

It is really quite good, no problems, no ads, etc.
It was recommended by someone on this forum a while ago.

But the developers have moved to a pay-for version, and this free version is not being updated.

I also use Google Photo for the Gallery sometimes, I have been trying to get "Motion" to work in *no-support-for-this-app-on-this-forum*, you need G.Photo for that.

By the way, I deny internet access to G.Photo, it wants to do all kinds of things with my photos that I do not want.

I disabled stock gallery app and installed Google photos app. Everything works. It seems it even fixed the meta problem because now I attach images in WhatsApp and it's working great.

To be honest I don't understand what Google Photos does with my photos, taken with the *no-support-for-this-app-on-this-forum* app.

It's obviously doing some kind of after-treatment, it's just I'm not enough of a fanatical photographer to spend a lot of time learnng how all this works.
