Can I remove SIM from Mi 11 during the 168-hour wait period for unlocking the bootloader?

Can I take out the SIM and put it back in without resetting the 168h wait period?

I just got a Mi 11 and just started the 1-week (168-hour) wait period before I can unlock the bootloader.

However, do I need to keep my SIM inside the Mi 11 during this wait period? Or can I take out my SIM and put it in my old phone so I can continue using my old phone until the wait period is over?

I'm afraid that maybe taking the SIM out and putting it back in later will require me to add my device to my Mi account again and that might reset the wait period and I'll have to wait 168 hours all over again.

If I dont use my Mi 11 during the wait period, could that also reset the wait period?

I don't think you can remove the SIM, but why not use your Mi11 during the wait period, you can use it without issues.
I didnt want to use the Mi11 bc I'm gonna end up flashing the EU rom over the current china rom so I didnt want to waste time setting up all my apps/accounts.

I've done this twice: installed the SIM, booted the phone (fresh out of the box with the CN rom on it), connected to my xiaomi account and added the phone, started the unlock process which needs 168 hours. Turned off the phone and used the sim in my old phone for a week. After a week, put the sim card back in, turned on the new phone and went through the unlock process again, timer reached 0 and was good to go - unlocked bootloader, installed EU rom.

It's the xiaomi servers that keep track of the timer, so no need to keep the phone on or connected. You can then turn off the device and remove the SIM. Remember though not to change anything in the xiaomi account, that can reset the timer.

Sure you can. The sim was used as means that Xiaomi can track your phone when you registered the waiting period of unlocking.
I have done many times for different phones.

Dumb question here, can I switch of, both pc and mobile, while waiting the 168 hours period?

I ask that cause I tried last week, and turns that now I ve just tried, after the 168 period, and when I headed to unlock status just to check everything is fine, the add device is available again, so I added my device again, wich resulted in another 168 of waiting.

And after reading your post, i thoght that maybe I have to keep both on, wich seems weird, but possible.

will I need to re-insert the sim card after the waiting period is over in order to unlock?

You do not need to insert a SIM into the device.
When deducting, it is important to "not touch the Mi account on the device". You cannot sign out or sign in to your Mi account again while waiting.

my waiting period is nearly over. what if I return 1 hour too early? what if I return 5-6 hours too late? will the sim card still not be required? as long as I don't attach that phone to a MI account I'm safe regardless of the SIM card?
