Anyone know what MIUI system-apps that are safe to delete with RootExplorer?
I've tried to google this for a while but i dont find anything other than the standard stock android-apps.

I was thinking about removing: Calendar, Firewall, MiTalk, Notes, Radio, Voice Dialer, Music, the standard Launcher (im using Go Launcher instead), android keyboard (only using smart keyboard pro). Are thoose safe to delete?

Do i just enter the system/app folder in RootExplorer and delete the apps i dont want?

Thanks alot.

you can uninstall mitalk, updater, compass, radio and miuistats with titaniumbackup, there wont be any problem. i dont know anything about the rest because i did not try to remove them.
actually now i remove them with 7zip before flashing the zip, on a clean install. of course you must not remove android keyboard and launcher from the installation package before flashing :)

Be safe and use root freezer. I have heard that "Updater" is connected with "Theme Manager"

a few weeks ago I deleted the stupid mitalk app using Titanium. But when I updated MIUI the next Friday the app was reinstalled.

thanks for replies.
i deleted some apps with rootexplorer an hour ago. so far all works fine.
i made a zip-backup to SD-card before i deleted them if something will go wrong :)
i guess i will have to delete them again after next update :p

I do the same, and I recently went a step further and wrote a small shell script to delete unwanted apps and then add in a few files I need right on the phone. I was tired of downloading the rom on the phone, transferring it to my desktop to delete the files, and then transferring it back to flash. So now, I download the rom, run my script on it, and flash, all on the phone.

As for deleting the launcher, if it's anything like other ROMs, as long as there's a valid launcher in /system/app, it should run fine. On Sense ROMs, I used to remove the Sense launcher (rosie) from the zip and add in the free version of ADW (I believe I pulled it out of a CM7 ROM) and it would flash and run just fine, seamlessly using ADW right from the start.

I've got all the apps (except Calendar) deleted for a week now without any problems, just to let you know :)

It's not. At least not in any way that'll inhibit the theme manager if removed.

After a MIUI update install I push a handful of apps to the system (Launcher Pro and Plus, Mobile Defense, App Widget Picker..) and remove a handful (launcher, updater, email, gmail, talk, MIUI.us forum app, etc..) all prior to the initial boot.

I also install custom kernel, bln zips and a couple of other mods (the "couple of others" are only needed with a fresh install) before boot.

Roughly ten minutes in recovery (not including previous version backup time) leaving only the JIT VM heap size to change (from 64m to 40m) after boot.

EDIT: the only app I've found to be a problem so far is the Sim Toolkit.
