I downloaded the latest update for the MI9 and at the moment you select the restart in recovery I could not, in the end I had to restart in recovery and select the zip from here.

In my Mi9 i tried everything even reflashing to stock with xiaomi flash tool and cant solve this. I think there is differents Wifi adapter for the MI9 and my Wifi adapter is not supported yet. Dont know about your phone have the same issue.
Did you try new version ?

On my Mi9 it is working... no issues. Before you format data, reset the phone or install a fastboot image can you try this two things:

  • extract the "boot.img" from installed rom and flash it with "fastboot flash boot [boot.img]" and reboot
  • try to start in Safe Mode
    • Safe Mode (This is not the "Recovery mode" or the "Fastboot mode" )
In case your phone shows a lot of errors and you cant handle them because there are a lot of pop up windows or you want to deinstall something from magisk as example ... try the "safe mode" only some important standard apps will be loaded:
      1. Power off your Android device and then power it on. You can also use the Reboot or Restart option.
      2. You will see the Powered by Android logo and MI logo on the boot screen, If they disappear and the Screen ist black, press and hold the Volume Down key down so long till system ist loaded
      3. The System will load and you will see a watermark... Safe mode
      4. Deinstall the app with the error / analyze the root cause of the issue and so on ...
      5. Reboot the phone to get off the "safe mode"
      6. Perhaps after loading you have to disable AirPlane Mode

I don't know whether to put it down to testing Safe Mode, but my Magisk stopped working. I had a message from Google Pay to that effect. I cannot think of anything else that I did that could have affected Magisk. Anyway, I've re-installed, and re-hidden it, and it seems to be functioning again.
I did notice that going into Safe Mode also changed my icons and widgets. I suppose that I should have taken a backup before I tried it.
Mea culpa! Something to remember for next time.

? I too tried to the safe mode and while the app icons from launcher dissapeared (I used a ~1week old backup I had), but magisk still passes safety net. Did you try to use magisk while in safe mode or something?

You can manually download and install in twrp if you doubt the updater app.

I personally prefer to manually download and flash in twrp
Even disabled the updater app ;)

Wifi problem fixed? @kvakinator did you see?
I'm on 20.12.9 version with working WiFi. I don't want do Mi Flash again. I'm gonna try it when it will be fixed in changelog or nobody will have this problem. Maybe @Kostovdean telling true that Mi 9 have two versions of WiFi adaptor. That's the only option. I hope that someone in Xiaomi is solving that. @ingbrzy - Can you manage it?

Downgrade to android 10 as this is a feature of android 11
I think there's another possibility to change back to chat heads, i turned off bubbles in notifications, but i see in messenger only bubbles, and without super wallpaper bubbles are grey.

Yea, it doesn't play nicely with miui yet.
