Hi together,

I'm facing this problem since the update to 12.5. On every task where the file manager is involved to select a file it wont give over to the corresponding app.
For example if I want to use the updater function "choose update package" it will open the file manager and nothing happens after the update.zip selection (see screenshot). Same if I want to attach a file to this thread, everywhere where the file manger is involved. Unfortunately the stock file manager is set default and I am not able to change it.
I'm talking about the highlighted files app (screenshot 2)

Has anyone the same problem or a hint to solve it?

Thanks!

How? The other one is Set by default with no Option to Change within the default app settings. Its also not showing it when uplaoding something after resetting defaults..

right there are the settings for defaults within the App. there is No option to change a file manager app within the general Apps/defaults. thus i cannot change the Filemanager and upload it with another app

Froze the app with titanium and its showing all other apps now but still the handover Problem after selection.. Probably a really rare and Personal Bug..

I have deleted the problematic file manager (DocumentsUIGoogle.apk in /system/priv-app/DocumentsUIGoogle) but still the file handover from file manager (or galary) to app X (like Updater) does not work.

Is there a way to change the default stock file manager (rooted device)?

There is no possibility to change the standard file manager. Download it from playstore and check if the issue occurs again. Perhaps rename your 3rd party manager and copy it into the default manager path :)

No matter which app I use for file picking, the picked file won't handed over to the app. Not from chrome, firefox or the update. Not if I use the file manager XYZ or the gallery app.
The problem is persistent since the MIUI 12.5 update.

I also facing crashes for youtube vanced so it might be time for a full wipe. But I'm very interested what causes this problem.

Update: I was only able to fix it through a full wipe. However I got a lot of problems since the update of Android 11. So I can really recommend anybody to make a full wipe after such an update. It also fixed a lot of other little problems. Seemed like a lot of Android 11 features where not working correctly. With the backup tools xiaomi offers its pretty easy to get the old set up back.
