My bad. I missed this explanation.
Anyway, I beleive that if upgrading a non compliant TWRP makes sense, overriding a perfectly compliant one should remain the user choice.

Crazy thing with Google assistant... I never enabled it and never tried it. But after this Update it has been enabled by default. I had to disable it because every time I said hey Google my phone wakes up...

No battery drain for me (Android uses ~5%).

Reverted to stock google app (from beta) and Ok Google works ok! Seems fixed atm.

I'm on MI8 stock kernel, later i'll install Sphinx, but just for better battery and performances, i don't think that kernel is related to assistant problem.

We preinclude TWRP we know is supported with Pie, that's for users upgrading via OTA from Oreo. (so that they don't lose TWRP after upgrade)


Settings -> Additional settings -> Button and gesture shortcuts -> Launch Google Assistant -> Long press the home button.

It didn't on the previous release. Also wasn't the issue with 9.4.11 that ok google just stopped working after a couple hours ?
Disabling/Enabling or rebooting fixed it again for a while

Mhm two people reporting that fixed it.
Now if the battery drain is normalized it might be worth upgrading again...

Succesfully updated on Mi8. But after installing magisk 19.0 the phone gone to twrp..uninstall magisk and all OK.. Is that issue with 9.4.18?

whyred:

double tap to switch off screen doesn't work on home screen. Only works in lockscreen and other screens.
EDIT: sorry, I found out it's because of the clock/weather widget. Need to tap on free space.

Mi calculator will be updated via Play Store and overrides the new features. So better skip the update of this app.

That seems to be your issue, i get notifications from my cameras, my vacuum.. So check your setup...
