At least on Mi6, I have to update fstab.qcom in order for the rom to boot, otherwise it is stuck on boot screen.
Unless there is a new TWRP that I am not aware of...

Now on Android 9 I checked - it works

you have bootloop because you encrypted it wrong way by yourself.. its not our ROM issue..

I have just flashed the same ROM (9.4.25) on mi 6, but it doesn't finish boot process
In fstab.qcom setted "encryptable=ice"
I don't understand something?..

So, when I formated data, system booted and I sat password
In settings was written, that my device encrypted
I booted into TWRP (it also asked password) and I flashed the same ROM, that was installed
Then bootloop(infinity boot)

There is a jungle of TWRPs for Mi8.
Are you sure you have a TWRP that functions with encryption?

Same problem for several devices.

Now I was talking about mi 6

My TWRP for mi 6(also for mi 8) can work with encrypted devices (I determine it because TWRP asks password)

I have the same issue with my Mi6, if I don't change fstab.qcom, it will stuck...
I use the latest TWRP, and in TWRP, it does decrypt.
So there is an issue on Mi6...
Maybe on other devices it is fine.

Did a full reset with this rom because i wasn't able to install magisk anymore from upgrading 8.1 to android 9. Now the app vault is crashing all the time. full wipe, installing the rom again doesn't work. app vault crashing all the time. maybe you find a fix.

My phone is Redmi Note 6 Pro

Yeah, for me on Mi6 also encryption doesn't work.
Password set but stuck in boot after enabling encryption in settings.

Is this all related to DM-Verity? Has anyone with this issue tried running LazyFlasher?

Toggle of Mobile Network is unclickable, even if I can turn on mobile network from settings.
I've fixed that problem rebooting without airplane mode active.

Did you try it on Android Pie?
When you format data you should set password in the first installation(may be it will work after this), for me works
But after flashing ROM again I get infinity boot process

1)Thanks, now I confirm on mi 6 (android 9) encryption works
Just some months before I got bootloop when tapped "Encrypt device" (it was android 8.0)
Yes, may be I don't know something...
2)I asked if you're searching solution for this
(you don't have to answer this post)

So I think you are saying that "Encrypt Phone' option in settings will work on MI6 in this ROM, correct? If so, that's good news but reading subsequent replies from you and others it seems that there is still a problem when trying to update ROM afterwards on encrypted Mi6? I would like to encrypt my Mi6 and want to make sure that I understand current state and potential issues. My past attempts to encrypt the phone with earlier versions of the ROM failed.

Does having Magisk installed make any difference to 'Encrypt Phone' option working?

So, encryption works
If you format data and set password (I sat it during first phone activation) your phone will be encrypted
But problem is if you install ROM again (or update ROM) you can't boot into system again(infinity boot)
In fstab.qcom is written "encryptable=ice", so if you rewrite it to "fileencryption=ice" it should work
Notification: on MIX3 after updating there's still written "fileencryption=ice", so phone boots into system normally
I hope xiaomi.eu team fix it/explain what we have to

I'm an active magisk user, but still don't understand what it does with encryption, I didn't notice any changes with encryption
