Previously I had tried to unlock after getting permission, via Mac. The MI5 was not recognised and I thought it was a problem with using emulation software on a mac. Now I have a windows PC with PC suite installed. I have the most recent USB 3 drivers installed, and the phone is set up for USB debugging and the USB port on the phone is set up to allow file transfer and not just recharging. And once I am in Fastboot mode the phone is still not recognized by PC suite.
Is this normal?
The strange thing is that I am able to save files on the MI5 using android programmes. So I have the impression that I could simply transfer the EU ROM into a directory, but there are locked sub directories which I can't access, and when I tried to choose an update package, I was told: cannot verify the package.
Given that the official pc suite supplied by xiaomi doesn't work for me, any thoughts on solutions where I can install the EU ROM without unlocking the bootloader would be welcome.
