I had been using AT&T 3G for the past year, and recently decided to switch to tmobile.

I believe this is the specs for our Mi-One S:
Network standard WCDMA / GSM
Network frequency 2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 850,1900,2100 MHz
Data services GPRS / EDGE / HSPA +
This is what tmobile used to offer:
T-Mobile 3G/4G runs on AWS(1700)/2100, and we need both to get the 3G/G
Obviously we are UN-Able to run 3g/4g on t-mobile network.
However, since last month, i believe tmobile added the 1900 mhz spectrum to their 3G/4G services:
T-Mobile 3G/4G runs on 1900mhz, and we only need this to get the 4G

What settings do i do to get onto the 4g network?
i was wondering how i can force it to just use the 1900 mhz band, or force it to go into 4G instead of 3G when it's on the 1900 band.
i've tried going to : Settings > Mobile Network > Network Type Selection
but that option only gives me "3G preferred", "2G only", or "3G only"

t mobile introduced LTE too, but i guess than most of its infrastructure its still running on AWS bands which the xiaomi mi-one dont have

4G LTE is physically different, and requires a different hardware to run.

Their previous AWS bands are 1700 + 2100 mhz, which the xiaomi mi-one doesn't have.

But we DO have 1900 mhz, which is what t-mobile is pushing out for 3g/4g since december 2012 to all major city in USA.

tmobile has 2G GSM on the 850 and 1900 band
tmobile has 3G GSM on the 1700+2100 band
tmobile has 4G HSPA+ on the 1700+2100 band

Tmobile has pushed out 3G/4G HSPA+ for the 1900 mhz band as well.

So what is preventing us from utilizing the 4G HSPA+ on the 1900 mhz band right now?

I also read that T-Mobile advertises 4G speed, but the phone indicator would still say 3G on it. I'm very confused by the naming....

I just ran a speed test on my xiaomi Mi-One right now, and here is the results:

if im not mistaken Tmobile use 2 BANDS for 3G one for up and down, so 1900 alone wont be enough you need that one and 2100 or 1700 and 1900

1900 alone IS enough, as part of the new plan t-mobile is pushing out in order to attract at&t phone users.

the OLD plan required both the 1700 + 1900 mhz to get 3g/4g

Can anyone post a speed test result of the mi3 running on tmobile?
