I'm a person highly interested in Chinese Characters. In fact, I want to use them not only in Japanese and Mandarin Chinese, but also Korean and even Vietnamese, languages that I am either learning or would like to learn in the middle term. As you would be able to check in forums such as Reddit or Quora, as well as in YouTube videos, there's a great community in both languages that would like hanja and chữ nôm to be added to gboard and who struggle nowadays to write them in their phones.
I get that in different kinds of phones, android's gboard has different features. There's a hanja tab option in Samsung phones to the different kinds of Korean keyboards, just like in Microsoft IME Korean for computers. Would it be possible to add a hanja conversion key in the Miui version of gboard? I hope it wouldn't be too much work...
Then, Vietnamese. There's a double issue here. First, would it be possible to add to the Qwerty or Telex ime's a chữ nôm tab similar to the one I've highlighted for Korean and also similar to the Pinyin IME for Chinese, though through optional and not automatic conversion? That would ease the lives of many researchers and amateurs alike, similar to the inclusion of classical languages in gboard. An inclusion of input methods such as Cangjie (Thương Hiệt) which I personally favour for Mandarin, would also be nice, since all Nôm not present in Chinese have Cangjie codes.
Finally, there's the second issue. Although it is in Unicode, Google and dependent apps show Nôm characters not present in CJK languages as boxes. I don't know if it depends on Miui as well. In case it does, please help correct what really becomes a hindrance when reading texts in Chữ Nôm.
Just to say that right now I have to download apps to write in Korean and Vietnamese with Chinese Characters. It's an anomaly that so many writing systems and dead languages are present in gboard but not the aforementioned writing systems in widespread languages such as Korean and Vietnamese.
