Not sure if this is the right terminology but Cyanogenmod mod has a option to allow the music player to continue to play music during notifications.
I used this feature when listening to music and using Google Navigation at the same time.
On the Miui ROM i couldnt find this option and the music pauses everytime there is a navigation instruction.
Is there anyway to keep the music playing during notifications on MIUI?
