Hello, I had a Mi 5x and now I have a Mi 9. When I changed to Mi 9 my photos thumbnails stopped showing at my Windows 10 Photos App. I only keep them at the cloud and the Photos App access them through Onedrive.

1. Photos taken with Mi 5x viewed from the Photos App. All Normal.

2. Photos taken with Mi 9 viewed from the Photos App. No Thumnails.

So I thought something was wrong with the Photos App, I reinstalled repaired and all. Nothing. Later I also noticed that something was wrong with the Mi 9 files because it wasn't only the thumbnail not being download via Photos App, the metadata wasn't there as well.

3. Mi 5x Photo's metadata being accessed through Onedrive. All Normal

4. Mi 9 Photo's metadata being accessed through Onedrive. Missing data.

So I downloaded the files from the cloud to check the metadata from Windows Explorer proprieties, the result: the data was there, but also some really long chinese (I guess) commentary on the files.

5. Mi 9 Photos Metadata. Long chinese commentary.

When I download the photos, their thumbnails show on the Photos App, but this isn't the solution for me because I have more than 30 thousand pictures and I can't have this storage offline. So I downloaded a modded camera app and tested it with Mi 9, result: the pictures showed on the Photos App normally.

So I guess something is off with the Camera App and their Metadata. I don't know what is causing it but it might be related to this chinese commentary not being read correctly by other stuff? idk please help me. I could use that modded camera app for ever, except it doesn't have the 48Mp option and I really like the MIUI Camera App.

I hope someone may help with that.

My stuff:
Xiaomi Mi 9
MIUI Global 11.0.3 Stable
Camera App: 3.0

We are not MIUI Global support forums, we're Xiaomi.eu custom ROM project.
You're at the wrong place. And the "Chinese" comment is not Chinese, it's gibberish, corrupted data.
Oooh I get it now, my mistake!

Thank you, I'm going to (try to) install a ROM from here. I hope it helps with that error.
Is the Camera app from MIUI Global different from the Camera on MIUI ROM? (Do you think it can help changing the os?)

Finally fixed!
For anyone out there with the same problem: I installed the miui rom from xiaomi.eu, it took me 5 hours to flash it from the global rom but after a lot of trouble I got my thumbnails again with a working Camera App and correct metadata, thank you guys!
