I think the hifimediy will work with MI2, but you need to output via USB Recorder Pro. I have tested some USB DACs with MI2 and reported in my old thread:

It routes the digital audio data through the USB port so that a external digital to analog audio converter can convert it into audible sound for our ears.

The reason why you would do this is quite simple really... To improve sound quality.

The built in digital to analog converter inside the headphone jack is kinda bad... At least for audiophiles like me.
