[Nexus S] Theme problem on 2.2.17 (ICS)

I just installed this version on my nexus s. I have a problem installing themes. It seems that only a part of all themes come through into my phone. For example I installed MeeUI Dark 2.0 and it doesnt change the menus, it does not change the status bar that you scroll down and it also does not change the screen when I press the menu button on the phone (where you can select wallpaper settings etc).

This makes all themes very ugly since they are usually half white half whatever color the theme is.

Has anyone else had this problem?
