Not MIUI-specific

Alright, so my girlfriend has a Samsung Rogue, and when she takes videos and sends them to me, they are in .3gp format; however, when I receive them on my phone, they are in .qcp format, which is basically a .jpg of the first frame of the video and a .wav of the audio. From doing some research, I see that this is a problem not just on phones running MIUI, but on a random sector of Motorola Droid-branded phones.

So, while it's not MIUI-specific, does anyone have a fix/workaround for this?
