Redmi Note 12 5G China ROM blocking out Whatsapp update - 01/02/2025

Hello,

I noticed that for close to 2 weeks now my Redmi Note 12 5G (China ROM) is not accepting WhatsApp updates (please see attached picture). I usually download my apps from "uptodown" since my phone is still using the China ROM and does not operate "playstore". What my phone does is identify whatsapp as a high risk, even when I download whatsapp directly from www.whatsapp.com (since the websie allows direct downloads now).

For over a year now my whatsapp has also been giving warning like " This version of whatsapp will stop working in 7 days. please update". So as I'mtyping this (01/02/2025) I only have less than 24 hours left to update it, otherwise it will stop functioning.

Please help. As unlocking the phone and changing it from China ROM to Global will take longer as well, which is the solution I am working towards. It never bothered me before since I could download my apps from "uptodown", but without whatsapp, its difficult.

Have you tried installing the app using ADB with a PC?
This way, it is possible to bypass things like target SDK lock, maybe it works in this case aswell.

Hi. Thank you for your response. No I haven't. However, I managed to install it after I disconnected the Wifi (which was risky though). Next time, I'll consider the ADB.
